Laneway House W1
Conceptualization of a multi purpose garage and studio building. The project has a highly insulated solar skylight that is equipped with evacuated tubes as well as movable solar panels that shield the evacuated tubes in the summer to prevent overheating of the system. The electricity from the solar panels is to be fed into the grid as well as being utilized to charge an electric vehicle as an "energy plus house". A simple coil geothermal system is supplying additional base heat and doubles as a thermal energy storage for the evacuated tube glycol cycle. This project is designed as a low tech building with manually operated control valves and mechanisms to regulate the temperature and shading devices.
